1. Who are we?

De Scheepvaart attaches great importance to your privacy and the protection of your personal data. In this statement we explain how we handle your data, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Belgian law.

De Scheepvaart Watersportlaan 4, 2240 Viersel (Belgium) VAT / company number: BE 0800.302.953 Register of legal entities: Antwerp, Turnhout division Email: info@de-scheepvaart.be Phone: +32 488 33 06 99

2. What data and why?

We only collect the data we need to provide our services:

  • Reservations: when you book a table through our website, by phone or by email, we process your name, phone number, email address (if provided), the number of people, your language and your comments (e.g. allergies). You receive a confirmation and, in advance, a reminder email with which you can confirm that you are coming or cancel. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
  • Customer records: to welcome you better on your next visit, we keep your reservations together, along with any preferences or allergies you share with us. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
  • Newsletter: only if you sign up yourself (when booking or through our website) and confirm your subscription through the link in the email you receive afterwards. We then use your name, email address and language to send you news and events from time to time. You can unsubscribe at any time with one click at the bottom of every newsletter. Legal basis: consent.
  • Contact: when you email us or fill in the contact form, we only use your data to answer your question. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
  • Gift vouchers: we record the code, the amount, the validity and whether the voucher has been redeemed. Names on the voucher are filled in by you or given to us by you. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
  • Legal obligations: for our accounting we have to keep certain data (such as invoices). Legal basis: legal obligation.

3. Cookies

Our website only uses functional cookies that are needed for the website to work (e.g. security). No consent is required for these.

On the contact page we show a Google Maps map. Google may place cookies when you view it. You can always delete or disable cookies in your browser settings.

4. Retention and sharing

We do not keep your data longer than necessary. Customer and reservation data is deleted no later than one year after your last visit. Your newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe; after that we only keep the fact that you unsubscribed, so that you no longer receive the newsletter. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to handle your question.

We never share your data with third parties for commercial purposes. Data is only shared with partners needed to provide our services, such as our hosting provider (servers in the European Union), our email provider and our accountant.

5. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access your data and receive a copy;
  • have incorrect data corrected;
  • have your data erased (right to be forgotten), insofar as this does not conflict with a legal obligation to keep it;
  • withdraw your consent for the newsletter at any time;
  • lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority (Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels).

For any questions about privacy, please contact us at info@de-scheepvaart.be.
